Aladdin and Other Enchanting Tales A giant genie, princesses, and wizards abound in the marvelous tales of Scheherazade, the storyteller heroine of Aladdin and Other Enchanting Tales. She tells her tales to heal her Sultan and save his kingdom. Through the magic of the stories of Sinbad, Aladdin, Ali Baba, and The Kalandar Prince the Sultan makes a journey of self-discovery, ultimately discovering his true capacity to forgive and to love. Set to the evocative music of Rimsky-Korsakov. At the suggestion of various presenters, this production may be offered under one of two possible titles based on presenters' specific curriculum requirements: Aladdin and Other Enchanting Tales or Tales from the Arabian Nights. Inspired by the rich musical imagery of composer Maurice Ravel, we enter the world of Mother Goose as she tells the enchanting stories of her childhood: Sleeping Beauty, Tom Thumb, the Princess of the Pagodas, and more. As she spins her tales, magic takes hold and she herself is transformed into each romantic heroine, discovering youth, lost love, and new possibilities. This is the perfect program to honor the 100th anniversary year of this enchanting masterpiece's premiere.
