Enchantment Theatre is unique in its communicative power. By its use of the art of pantomime, it enables students from all language backgrounds to fully participate in the theatrical experience. In so doing, it breaks down the barriers between students of different heritages and aids in the process of building a vibrant learning community. With many of the productions of Enchantment Theatre being based on storybooks, the use of these prior to the trip in the literacy classes enables students a second pathway into comprehending the text. In so doing, it aids language and literacy education by engaging students in visual and textual experiences that bring stories to life. – Dr. Dennis Creedon, Former Assistant Superintendent, The School District of Philadelphia
Enchantment Everywhere in Schools
Magical productions that breathe life into classic stories!
An Enchantment Everywhere production provides your students fun, new ways to move and interact with literature – right in your own school! Let us help you ignite your students’ imagination, delight their senses and stimulate their minds. You can also combine a show with a workshop, residency, pre-or post-performance presentations to enhance your students’ experience!
Pre- or Post-Performance Teaching Artist Presentations
ETC teaching artists are available to visit your classroom to help prepare students for the show. Students will be introduced to the story, characters and themes, and the different theater forms they will see in the play. Our artists are also available after the performance to discuss your students’ theater experience, and to introduce them to the possibility of creating their own production. These presentations are available as an assembly program or a classroom demonstration.
School Workshops and Residencies
ETC teaching artists offer workshops and residencies for children and adults in mask-making, puppetry and physical theater. Although the basic principles of what is presented are simple, relevant and appropriate for all students, each workshop is customized to the size, needs, age, skill level and orientation of each group. Workshops include:
- Introduction to Mask, Puppetry, Magic or Physical Theater: Workshops to introduce students to different theater forms
- Create Your Own Production: Residency program engaging students in the process of writing, designing, rehearsing and performing their own theater piece
We currently maintain In-School Residencies at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, F. Amedee Bregy, G.W. Childs, William H. Hunter and Henry W. Lawton Elementary Schools.
